FLHC LADIES 2nd XI vs Carnegie Ladies 2nd XI

Falkirk and Linlithgow Ladies took to the field today to take on a strong Carnegie side in a league match at Grangemouth High. The team started slowly, conceding an early goal after being caught out on the break. This continued for most of the first half, Carnegie piled on the pressure sitting high on the FLHC back 4. Good interceptions from Liz Williamson and Claire Headridge preventing the game from getting beyond the home side before the team really got started.

Half time 3-0

After a tactical shift and some honest words at half time, the team took the field with a much more confident stride. Early chances made through great work on the baseline from Rosie Crowe, taking on her marker and playing a strong cut back to penalty spot, which Lauren Fleming was unlucky not to tuck away. The home side controlled most of the second half, good possession down the wings and unselfish leading from Rachael Addison giving the Carnegie backline real problems. Tireless work rate from Erin Duncan kept the home side on the front foot, taking on players to win numerous short corners. However as the cliché goes...you need to make the chances count, as two quick counter attacks saw Carnegie clinically finish off the game, 5-0 with minutes to go. Falkirk and Linlithgow played to the end, late chances from Fleming and Cat McLaughlin just not finding the back of the net.

Lots of good things to take away from a strong second half, and an especially good performance from Erin Duncan, picking up the man of the match award for her determined attitude, mazing runs, and clever link up play with the forward line.
