L1s v Peebles Ladies 1s

With a few regular players MIA, Linlithgow 1s made the journey down to Peebles. 12 players (one ‘slightly’ hungover) took starting position, game heads on, looking for a win.

The starting line up showed a few changes, with a couple of midfielders down. Ash made her debut in strike this season with Becky filing in a spot in midfield and Julie and Freya completing the back four.

The match began with Linlithgow passing strong and looking for outcomes. With memories from the previous game last season it wasn’t long before both teams became hungry for a win. L1’s heads went down as Peebles lifted in the first goal but returned to starting position determined to get a goal back. The midfield played well using the wings to create chances to level the score but luck didn’t seem to be on the ladies side. Short corner opportunities arose for FAL a few times but nothing was to come of it. Another shot at goal seen Peebles increase their lead to 2-0.

Half time saw Peebles 2-0 up. FAL knew that the game could be theirs so fought hard with continuous efforts, passing from the midfield, to Ash and Flo who used their skilful play to get through the Peebles defence leading to the release of the ball by Flo and into the goal it went. Finally a goal for L1’s, with less than a quarter of the game left Linlithgow pushed for a chance to level out the score. The ball remained mostly in Linlithgow’s possession towards the final whistle but a win was not in the bag for the blues.

Unfortunately the game finished 2-1, but L1s look forward to getting back into training in preparation for next weeks game.
