L1s v Grange Ladies 3s

It was a frosty Saturday afternoon when Ladies 1s faced Grange 3s at Grangemouth. Despite members of the team suffering from potential heart burn after a small bottle of semi-skinned milk and a longer than normal warm up the match began. Jo had quite a quiet game in goals although made some great passes to our defenders. She may be seeing her self in a range of positions over the coming months as in the wise words of Coach Ross “everything comes from Jo” and we are expecting a few goals at least. Not too much to ask from your goalie! Abbie, Karis, Becky and Ash remained solid in defence with the ball being switched well around the back. The midfield were doing well to feed the ball down the pitch with Kim and Lesley working hard on the wings. Lindsay, Alice and Gabby were strong in the middle and stopped the Grange attack from driving through. Upfront Flo, Cat and Anna were working well to keep the Grange defence on their toes. The first goal for the 1s came early in the first half with Flo skilfully putting it away on her reverse and remaining composed when under pressure. Grange hit back later in the first half at a short corner and although the initial shot was defended a high flick into the top right corner was inches from Jo’s finger tips and the game was level at 1-1. The 1s heads did go down but with a whole half left we were confident we could get it back. The second half featured many attacking breaks by Karis and Becky driving into the D and creating goal scoring opportunities. Accurate passes and fast breaks led to the games final goal with Flo storming up the pitch she was able to pass the ball to Gabby who drew out the keeper allowing Flo to get the ball back and slot in the winning goal. The 2-1 win was celebrated at the Bowhouse with a party like atmosphere accompanying our sausage rolls.
