Match Report | Saturday 28th October After a hard fought game in the cup against Shetland the weekend before, ladies 1s welcomed Edinburgh Uni 5s to Grangemouth on Saturday. The game started off very positively for ladies as they kept Edinburgh Uni camped in their half. Some excellent passing and dribbling skills saw the ladies break through uni’s defence and create ample opportunities, but a goal eluded us. While at the other end of the pitch, solid defending meant that uni could do little with the small amount of possession they had and they rarely threatened the goal. In contrast to the strong first half performance ladies started the second half much slower and uni had their first opportunities close to goal. A startled ladies team began to settle into the game again however and some slick passing through to goal resulted in a number of opportunities. Still unable to find that much needed goal, uni found a way to turn the game in their favour and against the run of play they found that goal that ladies could not. Not a team to give up, ladies cranked up the pressure on Uni and were rewarded with a couple of deserved short corners. However unfortunately for ladies they still could not find that goal their performance deserved and the game ended 1-0 to Edinburgh Uni 5s. |
