Ladies 1st XI Vs CALA Edinburgh Ladies 3s

Third Game of the season sees Falkirk and Linlithgow 1st XI take on Cala 3’s at Meggetland....

First half started with both teams switched on looking for a win. FAL showing their ability to move the ball to their advantage with some fantastic one two’s from Becky Smith and Lindsay Rankine in defence up the left hand side to meet the midfield who drove straight for goal, a short corner was then awarded from a foul in the FAL D which resulted in Alice Watt popping the ball into the Cala Goal to bring FAL into the lead. Cala caught FAL on a fast break which resulted in Cala equalising just before the half time whistle.
Half time began with FAL knowing the win is up for grabs and that they were going to have to put everything into the second half. Cala put pressure on the FAL’s high press leaving a gap between midfield and defence which FAL to action upon and pulled back to a half press. Newest player to the squad Gabby had a fantastic game making the Cala defence work and topped it off scoring the second goal of the game.
Lauren Fleming once again worked her magic in the D keeping the oppositions Goal Keeper on her toes and finished off nicely by putting the 3rd goal in the net. As the overall play began to become heated between the two teams a few warnings were spelled across the pitch as FAL tried their best to play their game and bring home a win and they did just that as FAL’s captain Kyle Campbell sealed the win with a powerful straight strike from the top of the D at the final short corner of the game.
