The start of the new season as reigning champions saw the ladies 1s under pressure to keep up their winning form! A positive start saw excellent passing through the midfield with lovely linking between the wings and centre two. FAL pressed the Kelso defence excellently however let one slip through reaching a high forward who attempted to take on new keeper Jo but to no avail. At half time the blues were left confused at the 0-0 score line but continued to pile on the pressure in the second half. The blue defence made fantastic tackles to keep out the Kelso forwards and managed to muscle the ball through to the attacking D where midfielder Lesley Duncan became first scorer of the season with a tidy reverse sweep into the goals. That was the start of the goals for the L1s and shortly after Flora Gunn joined the score sheet with a huge sweep into the back of the net. Feeling a sense of relief the blues played beautiful hockey and finished off with one final goal from returning striker Lauren Flemming whose stick skills baffled the opposition and made it 3-0 for the league champs. A fantastic start to the season by all!
