Match Report | FLHC M4 travelled to Livingston for an early start yesterday with a 10:30am pushback. The team welcomed Ian Dow back into the starting XI for the first time this season, while also seeing the recently engaged Ross Drummond coming back into the side. Falkirk started slowly in the cold conditions, while an over fussy umpire decision for Livi saw the first short corner of the match awarded to the home side in the opening minutes. The resulting SC saw Livingston take the lead where a flick from top of the D evaded Shields on the line to make it 1-0. From the pushback, Falkirk immediately started to dominate and could have had several goals before Coventry and Ferguson combined for Dow to score from close range with a lovely little dink to equalise, 1-1. Back on level terms, Falkirk pushed for the lead, however in ongoing search of that goal, they left themselves exposed with Egan and Miller ensuring the defence stayed strong and resolute. With the game edging towards halftime, some great work from Coventry saw Cameron's shot saved and in the following stramash, a Livi foot on the line resulted in a PF awarded and duality dispatched by Brodie. 2-1 at half time. The second half saw Livi come out with more determination, combined with a lack of shape from Falkirk, meant a number of short corners awarded to the home side, with the closest being a flick past Egan and Shields taking it off the line to safety this time. As the game wore on, Falkirk played on the counter with Robertson, Ferguson & Drummond all feeding the excellent running from Gilchrist and Crook. The youngsters with a little more composure would have seen the ball hit off the backboard several times. In the final minutes, good game management from FLHC saw the match out for the 2-1 win and the unbeaten run continue for M4. Next Match is a top of the table game clash with Watson's on Saturday - GHS @ noon. Many thanks to Staffy for umpiring again for M4 |
