Match Report | Never too old to score! Saturday saw the M4 seeking to make it 4 wins on the bounce at Grangemouth vs. Edinburgh Uni 7. Playing a 3-5-2 formation Falkirk pressed from start and looked to rattle the students. This tactic gave Falkirk an early reward, where a poor Uni sixteen was picked up by Iain Cameron, who picked the ball up, drove into the D and undercut the ball high into the net, with Edinburgh's keeper seeing it on the way back out. With the momentum and the pressing game working, Falkirk pushed for more goals and a second for Jammy followed shortly after. 2-0 at HT. The second half saw Uni come more into the game as Falkirk lost their way through substitutions and loosing our shape. As Uni pressed, they managed to reduce the deficit from a scrappy goal and unseen foul in the lead up to the goal = 2-1. Falkirk continued to play hockey and should have put the game to bed with a number of good chances, however couldn't convert. This lead to a frantic last 5 minutes with Edinburgh Uni pushing for the equaliser. However, stout defending with Scott and Lewis not holding back in the tackle, ensured that M4 saw the game out with a 2-1 win. The win pushes M4 into second in the league with an opportunity to consolidate our position next week against Carnegie. Many thanks to Lindsay and Mikey for umpiring as yet again FLHC supported East Division 4 with the supplying both match officials so the game could go ahead. |
