Match Report | Short Corners are the Future! Noon pushback at GHS saw FLHC M4's produce their first back to back win of the season. The team lined up with a 3-5-2 formation giving the likes of Scott Coventry a free role up front, while also allow the team to get more game time for the youngsters. Not being used to the team set up, Falkirk took a little time to settle without Grange taking any advantage. Finally with Drummond and Morrison starting to dictate play, Falkirk won the first of nine short corners. A good ejection from Coventry saw Miller make a clean strike off the backboards to make it 1-0. Going down 1-0 seemed to waken Grange, however, more about making game niggly, with green and yellow cards issued by Umpire Sharp. With half time approaching Falkirk pressed for the second, with Jammy, Coventry and Morrison all going close, however the whistle ended the half at 1-0. Positive words at half time, from the senior members of M4, saw Falkirk move the ball around far better in the second half and the wide area’s and spaces being used. After a number of attacks, the short corners started to mount up, with Miller going close again. However, with a switch to left freeing up Morrison a thunderous stick beating the keeper all end up was destined for the backboard, only for a stick on the line to appear from nowhere, the rebound came back to Morrison, who with less power managed to squeeze the ball over the line. At 2-0 Falkirk pressed for a third to finish the game off and it duly came from another short corner, with Coventry out to Miller, switch to the right this time and Shields to flick low into the keepers corner making it 3-0. With the game wrapped up Falkirk started to take the foot of the gas, allowing Grange to make a few forays up field, this brought Egan into action making a number of good saves, ensuring we kept our first clean sheet of the season. Finally, call out to our youngsters - Josh Crook, Lewis McAdoo and Scott Gegan who all had positive games and contributed to the win - Well Done Lads!
